Google Partners with the New York Times for a Virtual Reality Project

The New York Times and Google have together to help distribute 1 million Google Cardboard kits to subscribers of the popular newspaper. NYT subscribers who receive the VR kits will be able to watch a documentary called The Displace, which was put together by the New York Times and the VR company Vrse. This project will see additional project releases well into 2016.

OnePlus has sent out invites for a New Delhi Event scheduled for October 29th 2015. The invite features the same “X” branding and is cryptic in typical OnePlus fashion. Gathering from all leaks and rumors so far, we can expect the OnePlus X to be launched on this day.

Sony has been testing an experimental concept since July 2015. Almost 2 weeks ago, the company started asking Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact users in select countries if they wanted to try out their Marshmallow concept. Sony is in the first phase of the roll out and we’re told that some new features will be coming soon.

Google Publishes Android 6.0 Factory Images for the Nexus 5X

Now that the Nexus 5X has been released, Google has published the Android 6.0 Marshmallow factory images for the device. The device is listed on the company’s factory images page under the codename Bullhead and these images can be downloaded. As of right now there are three builds listed with the build numbers MDA89E, MDA89F and MDB08I.

There’s an OTA update going around for OnePlus One owners who are currently running Cyanogen OS 12.1. This OTA update will bring your device up to build number YOG4PAS2QL, and is said to contain bug fixes along with some security patches (possibly Stagefright). XDA Portal Supporter Titokhan was able to locate the URL of this update for those who want to sideload it from build number YOG4PAS1N0.
