Xiaomi's RedMi 2 Pro Gets Certfied in the US by the FCC

People have been waiting for Xiaomi to enter the US market and today we learn that the RedMi 2 Pro has just been certified by the FCC. It supports GSM bands 850/1900 as well as LTE bands 2, 4, and 7. This doesn’t mean a launch into the US is guaranteed, but it is something that is required of devices before they are allowed to.

giveaway

On our last podcast, we announced a giveaway for a Nexus 5X and a Nexus 6P, the latest and greatest in the Nexus line-up. If you are a developer or an Android enthusiast, Nexus phones need no introduction — you probably know all about them.

So how can I get a brand new and shiny Nexus 6P or 5X?

Simple! Head over to twitter and use the hashtag #WhyIXDA to show us your favorite XDA post or XDA thread. It can be anything you love about XDA — a great ROM, and awesome mod or tweak, a funny post, a random burst of originality or a hidden gem that changed your Android life. As soon as you hit the tweet button, you are in. You still have a full day to enter, and we’ll announce the winners at our upcoming XDA/Android podcast.

What is this podcast you speak of?

In case you haven’t checked out our previous podcast yet, featuring special guest Linus Sebastian from LinusTechTips, you can find it on pocketcasts, on XDA TV or on the Portal.

There’s no telling how far Google wants to go with this since it could go nowhere, but Google could end up developing their own chips.
