Unibody handsets like HTC’s One flagship series can sometimes be a nightmare to repair if the person doesn’t have much experience. Sony Z4 Slips Out of Top 5 Smartphones in Japan

In a bid to streamline its flagship series which had been losing credibility over the past few years due to their 6 month release cycles, Sony announced that releases would be pushed back to the standard duration of one year instead. When Sony’s 2015 flagship was unveiled as the Z4 in Japan and the Z3+ across the rest of the world, enthusiasts everywhere expected things to take a turn for the better, in lieu of the aforementioned announcement.

However, two months in, things are looking worse than ever for Sony, as earlier today, the Z4 slipped out of the top five best selling smartphones in Japan, to be replaced by multiple variants of the iPhone. This revelation came as no surprise to those savvy with the mobile world, given that both the Z4 and the Z3+ packed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810, which has become a blight to more than one flagship this year. Shortly after users began reporting the expected overheating issues, Sony came forward to state that an update sometime this summer would make everything alright, but that was a well worn tale told by HTC shortly after the M9 was reported to face the same issues, and held little or no credibility.

Despite the Snapdragon 810 overheating issues plaguing multiple flagships, numerous upcoming devices such as the OnePlus 2 and Moto X 3rd Gen are expected to sport that very chipset. Will you buy a device running atop an S810? Let us know in the comments section below!

Sprint’s New Unlimited Plan with Ridiculous Capped Speeds

The carrier game in the United States is perpetually rushing forward at a breakneck pace, with each of the four major carriers vying for maximum customer satisfaction and adoption rates, by means of a multitude of plans, offers and schemes. Earlier today, Sprint announced a new plan called “All-In”, aimed at providing users with yet another unlimited plan.

On the surface, All In sounds like a pleasant deal, which offers unlimited talk, text and high-speed data for $80 plus taxes, which includes the $60 buy-in and an additional $20 for a 24 month leased phone. However, the footnotes paint a less pleasant picture, explicitly stating that:

To improve data experience for the majority of users, throughput may be limited, varied or reduced on the network. Streaming video speeds will be limited to 600Kbps at all times, which may impact quality.

This statement is quite outrageous, with Sprint offering unlimited plans and then going on to cripple users by capping streaming speeds to 600Kbps. These restrictions do not appear to apply to existing unlimited users, but if you had planned on getting a Sprint unlimited plan, be wary of this revelation!

We rave about the features and abilities of our smartphones. However, in order for the device to be so smart, there is a lot of items running in the background. Running all these processes behind the curtain can impact battery life. If you can control how often something runs in the background, you may be able to get some more battery life out of your device.
