What will I miss if I ditch Xperia?

I've had Xperia phones since the Z came out and now my international Z5 E6653 broke and can't get the screen fixed anywhere. It's been almost a month and I keep "waiting on parts." I'm thinking on going back to Nexus since every year Sony makes it even less likely that they'll release phone in the U.S. which means even harder fixed. And I'm forced to pick between root and losing DRM keys.

My question is: Aside from PlayStation and aesthetics, what would make you stay with the Xperia line?

P.S. Is apps controlling LED color an Android feature or an Xperia feature? I remember my old phones needed LiteFlow to change the color per app, but those were in the ICS days I think.

So how to flash for locked bootloader if can't into enable oem unlocking or change to sin after flash via flashmode for sony does have cmd flash oem lock?
And other way could you build kernel.sin fixed that don't need detected usb otg connect same like samsung after connect with mouse it's easy to click enable oem unlocking cuz it's lock startup wizard.apk that locked status bar and after install cm13 :confused:

Xperia M5 Auto Shutdown Fix (temporary until official fix)

hi, guys!!

This is my first post where I will show you how to fix the
Auto shutdown problem until we get an official fix from
Sony.


Let's start:

Go to the Dial pad and type*#*#3646633#*#*
This will take you to engineer mode

Now go to Bandmode>SIM1 and unthick EGSM900, GSM850, WCDMA-GLR-850, WCDMA-GSM-900.

Now click set and that's it.



You may experience worse reception in places with bad reception but atheist you will be able to use your phone, that's why it's a temporary fix. I have been using this method for one month and it has worked.

I'm not an expert so if I am wrong in something please correct me 😊

Button lights.

My unit is a coolpumpkn KD-D1908 for a suzuki grand vitara.
The button lights are always on when the unit is powered on and they are always brighter than the surrounding lights.
Also there is no way to turn them off or dim them with the vehicle dimmer.

Iis there a hardware or software way to enable dimming.

My first idea was to disconnect the led positive lines and connect them to the vehicle's illumination wiring. Since its all 0-5v it should run the stereo led's just fine or i'll have to use a voltage converter to get the right brightness to match the rest of the surrounding lighting.

I think the only wire on the head unit for illumination has one function and that its an input to the mcu that in turn sends a signal to the rk3188 to dim the screen according to a preset software amount. So that's only an on and off setting.

I'm just looking for a way to make this unit behave like the factory unit :)

Cannot install PC Drivers

So, I'm trying to install TWRP on my Idol 3. I followed all the directions I've found. Basically I get to the point where I change the connection to the PC to the CD drive so that I can install the drivers. I go to install the drivers, and it fails every time. I've tried it on 3 different Windows PCs. I do have a mac at my disposal, would this be easier? I'm seriously going crazy trying to figure out why I can't root this phone! Any help would be appreciated.

Instructions to Flash:

OPTION 1 (Using PC)
1.Open SPflash Tools.
2.Click scatter loading and select the scatter.txt ( Search XDA/ Google on how to use the tool ; you will haxe to download the firmware first and replace recovery.img in it with the provided recovery.img)
3.Use the provided recovery. img to flash recovery partition only (by unchecking everything except recovery)

OPTION 2
1.Download Flashify or Mobile Uncle Tools.
2.Copy recovery.img to SD card.
3.Flash the copied IMG via the respective tools.
