Apps and services running

When it comes to my phone (GS4 SGH-M919) I am extremely serious about what's running or installed and why. There is nothing installed on my phone that I didn't personally install or allow to run. I like a nice clean phone with nothing wasting resources. I'm sure I'm not alone in this way of thinking, so I ask, what are you guys doing to minimize apps and wasted services running? How are you keeping your phone running at it's absolute best?

Editing init.x86.rc on Android x86

Can anyone offer me some guidance for making persistent edits to init.x86.rc on an Android x86 system (that I'm running in VMware)?

If I'm not mistaken, on a standard Android installation I'd need to unpack, edit, and repack the boot partition (boot.img), but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that with Android x86.

Running cat /proc/mounts returns:
Code:

tmpfs / tmpfs ro,relatime 0 0
/dev/block/sda1 /system ext2 rw,relatime,errors=continue 0 0
tmpfs /cache tmpfs rw,relatime 0 0
/dev/block/sda1 /data ext2 rw,relatime,errors=continue 0 0
tmpfs /dev tmpfs rw,nosuid,relatime,mode=755 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,relatime,mode=600 0 0
proc /proc proc rw,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs rw,relatime 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs rw,relatime 0 0
none /acct cgroup rw,relatime,cpuacct 0 0
none /sys/fs/cgroup tmpfs rw,relatime,mode=750,gid=1000 0 0
tmpfs /mnt/asec tmpfs rw,relatime,mode=755,gid=1000 0 0
tmpfs /mnt/obb tmpfs rw,relatime,mode=755,gid=1000 0 0
none /dev/cpuctl cgroup rw,relatime,cpu 0 0
pstore /sys/fs/pstore pstore rw,relatime 0 0
/dev/fuse /mnt/shell/emulated fuse rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=1023,group_id=1023,default_permissions,allow_other 0 0
none /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc binfmt_misc rw,relatime 0 0

And running cat /proc/partitions returns:
Code:

major minor  #blocks  name

  1        0      8192 ram0
  1        1      8192 ram1
  1        2      8192 ram2
  1        3      8192 ram3
  1        4      8192 ram4
  1        5      8192 ram5
  1        6      8192 ram6
  1        7      8192 ram7
  1        8      8192 ram8
  1        9      8192 ram9
  1      10      8192 ram10
  1      11      8192 ram11
  1      12      8192 ram12
  1      13      8192 ram13
  1      14      8192 ram14
  1      15      8192 ram15
  8        0  20971520 sda
  8        1  20964793 sda1
  11        0    1048575 sr0

Does Android x86 not use individual partitions for boot, root, home, etc.?

MicroSD speed spec?

Any idea what speed MicroSD cards the HTC 10 will support? It'd be nice to get a high-spec UHS card to use the expandable storage! Coming from a Galaxy S4 and S2, my last HTC device was an HTC Desire - so I'm not sure what the previous generation of HTC devices supported.

Larger battery pack not showing much change on Samsung S3 (I747M)

Hello there, I'm completely new to these forums, so if I post this in the wrong place please correct me! More than glad to learn more about this! I looked at a few guides, and decided this was probably the best place to ask.

Anyways, I recently acquired an older Samsung Galaxy S3 I747M, and managed to get Cyanogen mod on it. (12, I believe)

The battery life originally with the 2100 mah battery was just enough to get me to 6 PM in the evening with 2 hrs screen time or so.
Now, I have a 7000 mah battery attached on to the s3, and I'm still getting the same battery life, just a little better. I've tried switching chargers (without much change), and even testing on the original rom. The original rom gave much better results. So now, I'm looking for a solution to battery drain on cm, or a possible cause for the phone still possibly "thinking" the battery is a 2100 mah one. I checked with a few apps, and it said the battery was 2100 mah, even though it isn't. Not sure how accurate that is.

Perhaps it has something to do with Cyanogen?

Thanks in advance.
