Realme X3 and X3 SuperZoom with 120Hz display, Snapdragon 855+ launching in India on June 25

Realme has been aggressively launching products in the Indian market. The only break that occurred in their launch schedule was because of the unavoidable circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. With the lockdown in India now being decentralized and mostly lifted, product launches have gotten back on track. Realme is now looking forward to launching the Realme X3 and the Realme X3 SuperZoom in India.

The Realme X3 SuperZoom has already been launched in Europe in May 2020, so we have a fair idea of what to expect out of this smartphone. The highlight of this device is the fact that it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC, a 120Hz LCD display, and a periscope shooter. The SoC choice is particularly interesting in this case because flagships with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 have been prohibitively expensive. With the Snapdragon 855+ at the fore, Realme will be able to offer an exciting user experience while still maintaining a good price point. The 12GB/256GB variant of the device was launched for €499 in Europe, which converts into ~₹42,750 at current conversion rates. Realme could possibly offer a lower RAM variant in India. That, coupled with the government incentives, could give us a lower price point in the country.

In addition to the Realme X3 SuperZoom, Realme is also teasing the Realme X3. Previous reports suggest that the device will come with the same Snapdragon 855+ SoC, as well as the 120Hz display. Changes are expected on the camera setup and possibly on lower-tech RAM and storage.

Curiously, we have evidence of the existence of a third device, in the form of the Realme X3 Pro. However, Realme’s current teasers make no mention of the launch of the Realme X3 Pro in the country. We’ll find out which devices actually get launched on June 25.

Here are the 16 Huawei and 4 Honor devices getting the EMUI 10.1/Magic UI 3.1 global update

Huawei’s flagship P40 series debuted earlier this year with a slightly upgraded version of its custom Android 10-based skin called EMUI 10.1. Soon after the launch, the company shared an EMUI 10.1 update roadmap detailing the beta release timeline for older Huawei and Honor smartphones. Since then, several Huawei devices, including the Huawei P30, Mate 30, and Nova 5T, have received the beta update. The company has also released a stable EMUI 10.1 update for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro globally and the Mate 30 series is expected to receive a stable update this month. The company has now shared a list of all Huawei and Honor devices that are scheduled to receive the EMUI 10.1/Magic UI 3.1 global update this year.

The update also includes Huawei’s alternative to the Google Assistant, called Celia. The voice assistant can help you with regular daily tasks, such as initiating phone calls and texts, setting up reminders and calendar appointments, start voice recording, translate sentences, play music, videos, toggle devices settings, and flashlight, and search for information on the web. The voice assistant has already rolled out on the Huawei P40 series and will soon make its way over to older devices with the EMUI 10.1 update.

Furthermore, the EMUI 10.1 update will bring useful features like multi-screen collaboration, new fingerprint animations, and cross-device photo gallery to the aforementioned devices.

As of now, the company hasn’t unveiled a specific timeline for the rollout. However, since the company has already rolled out the global stable update to a few devices, we expect the remaining devices to receive the update in the coming months.

Realme reveals Android 10 schedule for the C2, wireless charger availability, and more

After a two month hiatus, Realme India’s CEO Madhav Sheth recently returned with another episode of AskMadhav — the company’s video Q&A series on YouTube. In the latest episode, Sheth revealed a ton of information about upcoming software updates for some of the company’s products and hinted at a couple of new products that will be added to its portfolio later this year.

Starting with software updates, Sheth confirmed that the budget-friendly Realme C2 from last year will receive the Realme UI update based on Android 10 in September. With the update, C2 users will get access to all the new features Google introduced in Android 10, coupled with the new UI design and features included in the company’s latest Android skin.

Realme recently released a flash tool for installing ColorOS/Realme UI updates on its devices. However, at the moment, the flash tool is only compatible with the X50 Pro. In the video, Sheth confirmed that the company will be adding support for more Realme devices running Android 10 shortly. The company will make an announcement on the Realme community forums as soon as the flash tool receives support for more devices.

Speaking of the Realme Band, Sheth revealed that the music controls feature, which was promised in a previous episode, has already started rolling out to users via an OTA update. He further added that the company is working on new watch faces for the fitness band, which will be rolled out to users “very soon.” Additionally, Sheth confirmed that the company is working on an improved notification management system for the Realme Watch. Talking about upcoming devices, Sheth revealed that a new 55-inch ‘flagship’ Realme TV will be launched in India next month, and the company will be launching a wireless charger in the country this month.

Here is your first look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 in the flesh

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen several leaks and rumors about Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch — the Galaxy Watch 3. First, we learned that the upcoming Galaxy Watch may keep the physical rotating bezel and include ECG and blood pressure monitoring features. Then, we found out that Samsung would skip the Galaxy Watch 2 moniker and jump straight to Galaxy Watch 3. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 was then spotted in Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app, alongside the bean-shaped Galaxy Buds. And, most recently, a leak revealed a few key specifications about the wearable, including the battery size, dimensions, and more. Now, a SAR certification of the Galaxy Watch 3 has surfaced online, giving us our first look at the upcoming smartwatch.

The images were recently shared in a post on South Korean platform Naver and they showcase two slightly different designs. As you can see in the attached images, the Galaxy Watch on the left (model number SM-R840) features a toothed bezel around the circular dial, much like the original Samsung Galaxy Watch. The watch has two buttons on the right and minute markings all around the watch face.

Whereas, the Galaxy Watch on the right (model number SM-R850) has a smooth bezel. Both variants, however, don’t feature any markings on the bezels. The other design elements, including the buttons, minute markings, and metal body, remain the same. The listing also reveals that the two Galaxy Watch 3 variants have different SAR values, with the SM-R850 certified with a SAR value 0.365 W/kg higher than the SM-R840 model.

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the new Galaxy Watch 3 during a “virtual” Samsung Unpacked event later this year in August. Along with the new smartwatch, Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Fold 2 at the event.

The Red Magic 5G Eclipse Black model with 12GB of RAM is now available globally

The Red Magic 5G is a phone with a high value-for-money quotient. It raises the standard for a gaming smartphone even higher with features like a Snapdragon 865 processor, a 144Hz display, shoulder triggers for gaming, active airflow ventilation thanks to a built-in fan, and more. We recently reviewed this device and walked out pretty impressed. And the specs are absolutely overkill for most consumer-centric use cases. The phone comes with either 8 GB of RAM, or a whopping 16 GB of RAM which creeps up the price quite a bit for an amount of RAM you probably won’t realistically need. If you want to go overkill but not so much, though, the phone is now available in a 12 GB RAM Eclipse Black option.

Red Magic 5G XDA Forums

12GB of RAM is also becoming increasingly common, but it’s still overkill according to some people. OnePlus devices have been coming with this amount of RAM since last year with the OnePlus 7 Pro, and since then, other manufacturers have started doing it as well. These huge amounts of RAM make sense for gaming phones as games are resource-heavy and the phone must be equipped to handle everything you throw at it, and huge amounts of RAM will let you have multiple apps and games sitting in the background without being killed to free up resources for the active app or game in the foreground. If you think 16 GB is way too much, or it’s a bit out of your budget, yet you still want more than 8 GB of RAM, then this new middle 12 GB RAM option will serve you well.

Red Magic 5G Gaming Review: Smartphone Gaming has Never Looked Smoother

And what’s more: this Red Magic 5G version is $599, which is just $20 more than the 8 GB RAM version, so this is a no-brainer upgrade for those looking at the lower-end option. This 12 GB RAM version does, however, only have 128 GB of RAM, which may seem plenty for some, but others may find inadequate.. This is the same amount of storage that comes with the 8 GB RAM version. And no, this doesn’t have a microSD card slot: what you see is what you get. Want more? You’ll have to fork up some extra dough for the 16 GB RAM model, which comes with more storage at 256 GB.

Energy Ring battery indicator adds support for OPPO Find X2 Pro, Huawei P40 Pro, POCO X2, Redmi Note 9, and more

The hole-punch camera cutout is one of those display design elements that has seen widespread adoption among smartphone makers in the last year. If you’re not a fan of mechanical pop-up cameras or notches, the hole-punch cutout layout is indeed a viable alternative. You can even utilize the space around the camera hole(s) as a battery indicator on some phones using a third-party app named Energy Ring.

This nifty tool is the brainchild of XDA Recognized Developer jagan2. Since our last article, the developer has added support for several new devices from different OEMs. The list includes the “Pro Max” as well as the regular variant of the Redmi Note 9, almost the entire Redmi K30 lineup, and a handful of Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite is supported too, albeit you have to use a different version of the app (package name “you.in.spark.energy.ring.note”) than the generic one (package name “you.in.spark.energy.ring”). Following the footsteps of the Realme 6 and the Huawei P40 Lite, their “Pro” counterparts, i.e. the Realme 6 Pro and the Huawei P40 Pro, are now supported by the Energy Ring app as well.

Below you can find all the new devices and the device-specific feedback threads.
