Qualcomm Demos Server-Class Machine Learning with Zeroth

Zeroth is Qualcomm’s cognitive computing platform that runs directly on Snapdragon hardware instead of requiring the data be sent to the cloud for analysis. Doing this task locally increases security, privacy and even responsiveness in some cases. In this video, we get to see Qualcomm’s SceneDetect feature in action as the camera is shown multiple photos of different objects while it identifies them. Follow the source!

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 to Reportedly Use the Snapdragon 820 in Select Markets

A new report out of South Korea says that Samsung has decided to go back to Qualcomm’s SoC for their 2016 flagship. The information comes from an “unnamed industry source” and they tell us that the Galaxy S7 sold in the United States and China will utilize the Snapdragon 820. Much like Samsung has done before, other markets will continue to use their in-house Exynos chip.

Google Patents Holograms For Glass/Project Aura

In early 2014, Google applied for a patent titled “Lightguide With Multiple In-Coupling Holograms For Head Wearable Display” and now it has officially gone through. This patent details a way for Google to use holograms (or augmented reality) in their Google Glass/Project Aura headset sometime in the future. Some are speculating that this will be how Google makes use of their investment into Magic Leap’s AR content.
