Sundar Pichai Says Google Might Use an Online Poll to Determine the Name of the Next Version of Android

Sundar has been in India this week as part of the Google for India initiative and during an interview the man revealed something interesting about the next version of Android. While nothing is finalized, he says that Google is tossing around the idea to let the online community choose the next version of Android via some sort of poll.

Brazil Bans its Citizens from Using WhatsApp for 48 Hours

After months of lobbying from Brazilian telecommunication companies, a Judge has now banned the use of WhatsApp for 48 hours (starting at 9pm eastern tonight). The messaging application is used by 93% of the country and the argument is that the service is not regulated like the telcos are. It’s essentially the same argument we are seeing with the taxi industry when they lobby against Uber.

Facebook Finally Launches Instant Articles on Android

After its initial debut on iOS, Facebook has finally brought Instant Articles to all Android devices. Along with this announcement, we are also told that Facebook now has over 350 publications around the globe creating content that can be viewed instantly. If you see a lightning bolt on a photo or a news article, simply tap on that bolt and the Instant Article will load.

Huawei Hopes to Sell the Mate 8 & Honor 5X in the US Next Year

The high-end Huawei Mate 8 was just released last month but a new report from the Wall Street Journal says the company has plans to sell it in the United States sometime next year. The report also mentions the Honor 5X, a mid-range smartphone from Huawei’s sub-brand, will be showcased during CES next month, which they also want to sell in the U.S.
