The Google Developers YouTube channel has just uploaded the first episode of a new series they’re calling “The Developer Show” where they discuss all the latest news related to Android development. In the first episode, they talk about how to get started with Android using Android Studio, a few new Udacity courses, what went on at the Big Android BBQ, the fingerprint APIs in Marshmallow, and more!

Collection of Working Blackberry APKs From the PRIV

XDA member pluto7443 has a thread going in the BlackBerry PRIV forums that lists all of the working APKs that the community is able to obtain. So far there are only a few, but the list is growing. The BlackBerry Launcher requires the BlackBerry Services application to work (so install both), and the keyboard application looks to be working on all devices running Lollipop.

Flutter Cross-Platform Porting

To little fanfare, Google has released a new tool that easily allows you to build cross-platform mobile applications on both iOS and Android. Called “Flutter“, the tool uses its own high-performance rendering engine to draw widget models rather than WebView or OEM widgets that ship with the device. Although Google does not currently ship any apps made with Flutter, the team has provided a tutorial page for anyone looking to get started.

Google Acquires Fly Labs, Absorbs Talent into Google Photos Team

Fly Labs has published applications like Tempo, Fly, and Crop which have been able to garner 3 million downloads in the last 18 months. The company has just announced that they have been acquired by Google. The talent will be joining the Google Photos team, which could mean that we just might see some video editing features coming to Google Photos sometime in the future.

Xiaomi Mi Band Set to Debut on November 11

Xiaomi has confirmed that its new device, the Mi Band, will be introduced to the market on November 11. A list of features isn’t complete and available in Chinese only, but we’ve learned that the device sports a heart rate monitor. Xiaomi Mi Band will cost 99 Yuan (~$15), but it will surely cost more for the customers outside China.
