I've not been a hard core hacker since I wrote a new, improved OS for my Commodore 64 some 30 years ago, for absolutely no reason other than I just felt like doing it. Nevertheless, I enjoy playing with these things, but it seems there's a lot to learn. This site is an incredible resource, but all the threads I've found, though detailed, presume an awful lot of prior knowledge and quickly lose me. I've searched, but I've not yet found a thread that describes what all these terms mean - NB1, NJ4, MK2, OC3, loki-doki, Towelroot, etc, etc, etc. They all say things like "you can downgrade to NB1 base after upgrading to Lollipop". What does that mean, and why would I want to do it? Or "As long as you use Towelroot v3, you DO NOT need to mess with SELinux Mode Changer". Yeah, right! I better write that down! What's a Base? What's a bootloader? What's a Safestrap?
I think you catch my drift.
Lots of detail on how to get from point A to point B. The problem is that I have no idea how to get to point A. Is there another site, or perhaps a thread in these forums that describes how to get to point A before I set my sights on point B? or C?
Thanks.
