[Help] Enable Cellular Network Settings -> System Select (CDMA) on Project Fi

I have been trying to figure out why my Nexus 6 can roam Verizon towers (via Sprint roaming agreement) on Project Fi, but my wife's Nexus 5X cannot. Unfortunately, the only tower near our home is a Verizon tower so it's pretty noticeable once you step outside the house.

After some digging and help from some others, we've figured out that this is because the Nexus 6 is configured for "Automatic" under Settings -> More -> Cellular Networks -> System Select, and the 5X is configured for "Home". Unfortunately the Project Fi app hides these settings, so the only way to access them is to disable the Project Fi app, and use adb to apply settings put global hide_carrier_network_settings 0, at this point you can access the settings, and make a call using the Verizon tower. As soon as you re-enable the Project Fi app, the setting is changed back to "Home" and the settings are locked up again.

So what I'm looking for is either a way to override Project Fi changing this setting, a way to launch this menu even while Project Fi is hiding it, or some other way to force the 5X to stay in Automatic. Ideally would be able to do this without root, but I'm currently rooted in an attempt to find some way to do this...

Any ideas?

G4 MM root via Unikrenel?

Hey just saw this post.

They have almost all G4 variants listed that should work. However one of the steps it says to enter recovery which we do not have.

Anyway to get around this? I herd this works with Samsung devices.

Took a photo (blob) of the ISS

The international space station came round this evening in the UK. For a laugh I tried to photograph it with my G4.

Obviously it's a bit **** but I'm impressed nonetheless :)

Who'd have thought it was even possible with a smartphone

I lose data every morning. Anyone else? Little help here :)

At home I'm on wifi. It never fails when I leave my house the phone won't engage the network for data. This happens only after long periods. Not really if I am home for a bit and leave. I have tried everything...developer options wifi advanced settings renewing APN. My guess is that it's hibernating data somehow after long periods. I tried greenify with the the doze setting. I thought maybe that's the problem. So I cleared data and uninstalled... Same problems. The worst part is I know this is fairly recent. I didn't have this problem weeks ago. I know it's not the recent update. Greenify is uninstalled atm. I changed all settings to stock. I can't help but think it's something I did but can't figure it out. So every day I have to turn data off and back on again or toggle airplane mode and I'm in business. I know it's small but I hate things I can't fix! Ps I'm not rooted. I can't think of any apps I have that affect data this way. Please help or share if you have same problem. Thanks!
