Qualcomm Could Face Fines in South Korea for Licensing Practices

Most of Qualcomm’s yearly profits are generated by patent licensing fees and it looks like the company could face fines and legal action in South Korea. South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission claims that Qualcomm has violated local competition law when it comes to how they license some of their technology. They are requesting that Qualcomm be fined and demanding they change its practices.

Lenovo Commits to Local Manufacturing and R&D in India

Soon after meeting the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing has announced the Chinese OEM’s commitment to the “Make in India” initiative. Speaking at the Lenovo Innovation Showcase in New Delhi, Yang stated that Lenovo would begin smartphone manufacturing in India, and additionally, go on to invest in R&D as well, spurred on by the Prime Minister’s vision for Digital India.
