SD card to increase ram, also use folder mount?

I've been doing a bit of reading about SD cards being used as ram... But that the sd card would become unusable for storage. Is this true??

I currently have a good foldermount setup, don't want to stop that, as well as camera, wallpaper etc storage just to use a small part of it as ram.

Any way to do both? My phone only has 1 sd slot and probably wouldn't read a partitioned one...
